All authorities related to power generation and distribution, including the Ministry of Power and Energy, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL), the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), and the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) agreed before the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) to refrain from imposing power cuts during the 2022 G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) examination.
Accordingly, it was agreed upon at the inquiry held at the HRCSL premises that no power cuts will be imposed until 17 February.
Earlier, The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) had convened an urgent meeting to further discuss the failure to provide an uninterrupted power supply during the month the 2022 G.C.E. Advanced Level examination is taking place.
Accordingly, the Secretary to the Ministry of Power and Energy, Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission (PUCSL), Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), Chairman of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC), Chairman of the Bank of Ceylon (BOC), and the Chairman of the People’s Bank were summoned by the human rights body.
